What does your family want most?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 01, 2009:
Odd question for me to try to answer since I do not have a consistent, day-to-day relationship with people I am related to. I have very little relationship with my nuclear family -- their wants generally include being saved from their own lack of self-discipline. My granddaughter and my stepdaughter are my most immediate family close to me -- they are real keen on growing up and having a good life. I don't consider myself part of a family unit, though -- unless one includes the cat.

Help

Family is what you feel that it is. I think that cat definitely qualifies. Look at those eyes…
We have been together for 14 years now … she went directly from her mommy to a box and never even made it out of the box at the pet shop where I got her. I am home and always will be for her.
Your cat with her greenish/yellow eyes and white bib is beautiful. What is her name?
You know that old saw about how you can choose your friends but you are born with your family? I have family members ( not immediate) that I wouldn't want to spend an hour with and friends that are as close as my skin, they I do consider family. The love of a grandchild is the sweetest, most unconditional love I've ever received and the most cherished. I'm glad to know you are so blessed. Your Miss Priss is very fetching with her come-hither eyes!
The kitty above is Magic. My daughter and I had just seen the musical “Cats” by T.S. Eliot live and she was enchanted with jellical cats and wanted to name her “Jellical.” Since animals respond best to words of only one or two syllables, I suggested Magic because, according to T.S. Eliot, jellical cats are magical cats. Her markings are known as “tuxedo” (and she has four white paws with pink toes). In a way, like sandi mentions above, we chose each other as friends, and are now family. I am still working on the theory that I might have chosen the family I was born into as a method of self-discovery in this particular incarnation of my existence.
“Magic” - a name that suits her well!
It is my perception (that doesn't make it right, or wrong - it just makes it my perception) that we do, indeed, in advance choose the family we are born into (and other advance choices as well) for the very purpose of learning something specific.
That this thing we call 'life' is actually a school where we come to learn (evolve our Spirit) very intentionally. For instance, one may come to school for the purpose of taking “Courage 101.” Another may choose “Partnering 101” or “Empathy 101” – that type of thing.
Ohhhhh, I just heard the bell ring. Time for recess … I've got to go play!
